Tauranga City Council
rubbish and recycling

Tauranga City Council provides a rates-funded residential kerbside service. Food scraps are collected weekly; rubbish alternates fortnightly with recycling and glass on the property's assigned weekday. An optional garden-waste bin is available separately.

Bin-day rules

Before you put the bins out

  • Put bins at the kerb by 7 am on the address's confirmed collection day.
  • Good Friday, Christmas Day and New Year's Day can move the remaining collections that week; use the dated result rather than assuming the normal weekday.
  • Multi-unit properties may use a shared bin bay and therefore may not receive an individual kerbside day.
