Nelson City Council
rubbish and recycling

Nelson City Council collects mixed recycling and glass every two weeks from eligible properties. The council does not provide a household rubbish collection, so rubbish must be arranged privately or taken to an appropriate facility.

  • Put recycling at the kerb by 7 am on the assigned day.
  • Keep glass separate from mixed recycling and do not put household rubbish in council recycling containers.
  • Use the Week 1 or Week 2 label on the property's result and current council calendar rather than assuming a date.
  • A property outside the mapped recycling polygon is not treated as having a council kerbside service.
