Westland District Council provides alternating fortnightly rubbish and recycling collections to eligible properties in Kumara, Hokitika and Ross and on connecting rural roads. Glass bottles and jars are collected where recycling is collected.

Bin-day rules
Before you put the bins out
- Put the due bin at the kerb by 8 am and bring it in again that day.
- Keep the lid closed flat; extra material beside the bin is not collected.
- Leave about 50 cm between bins and keep them clear of parked vehicles and other obstructions.
- Do not put glass, batteries, gas bottles, food or garden waste, electrical goods, liquids or general rubbish in the yellow-lid recycling bin.
