Fortnightly, alternating with recycling.

For accepted food and garden organics to be processed into compost.

  • Fruit and vegetable scraps
  • Meat, bones and food leftovers

No — keep out of this bin

  • Plastic, degradable or biodegradable liners
  • Noxious weeds such as blackberry and gorse
  • General rubbish and recycling
  • Soil, rocks and plant pots

Important rules

Use the service properly

  • Do not use plastic, degradable or biodegradable caddy liners.
  • Line the caddy with newspaper or paper towel if needed.
  • Keep declared noxious weeds out of FOGO.
  • Check whether the property sits inside a designated service area.

How often is Glenelg FOGO collected?
Fortnightly, on the alternate week to recycling.
Can biodegradable liners go in FOGO?
No. Council excludes regular plastic, degradable and biodegradable liners.
Does every property receive the township service?
No. Properties outside designated areas can apply, subject to contractor approval and access conditions.
